Railways flag off Delhi-Mumbai Yuva train

The low-cost air-conditioned weekly train, with seated accommodations only, was flagged off by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa.

The ticket fares of the train will range from Rs 80 for the first 100 km and Rs 299 up to 1500 km and maximum of Rs 399 up to 2500 km.

The first Yuva train from Howrah to New Delhi was flagged off by Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on December 30 from Howrah.

These trains will have 60 per cent reservation for youths and passengers of low income group, while the remaining accommodation will be available for general public, a Northern Railway spokesperson said.

The 'Yuva Train' fares are applicable to unemployed persons between the age group of 15-45 years and to avail it one has to carry the necessary documents as proof of birth and unemployment. General passengers will have to pay normal fare, the spokesperson said.

For non-yuva passengers, the ticket fares will be Rs 475 up to a distance of 1500 km and Rs 738 up to a distance of 2500 km, the spokesperson said.
