Ralegan passes resolution to call Anna Hazare Mahatma, Anna rejects

A resolution to confer anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare with the status of Mahatma has been passed by the Ralegan Siddhi Gram Sabha. This comes after Anna Hazare led a nationwide campaign against corruption that forced the government to fast track the Lokpal Bill.

A resolution to confer anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare with the status of Mahatma has been passed by the Ralegan Siddhi Gram Sabha. This comes after Anna Hazare led a nationwide campaign against corruption that forced the government to fast track the Lokpal Bill.

Anna Hazare, however, has rejected the status and said he is a common man and Mahatma is too big a stature for him.
