The committee headed by regional director of Education Sunita S Koshik was constituted on April 23 in the wake of public outrage over death of Akkriti following asthma attack at Modern School, Vasant Vihar.

"We are yet to receive the report. The committee is expected to file it later this week," a senior Government official said.

The committee was given 15 days to find out whether there was any lapse on part of the school authorities leading to the death of Akkriti on April 20. The deadline for submission of the report has expired last week.

The official said the panel had sought one more week to complete its probe.

Akkriti's death had created a controversy with her parents alleging that she died due to "negligence" by the school authorities. The autopsy report has said that the girl died due to asthma attack.

The school management had also set up an inquiry committee comprising eminent academicians and noted personalities to look into the allegations of negligence.

Bereaved family members of Akkriti had met Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on April 28 who had directed chief secretary Rakesh Mehta and other senior officials to look into the issue on urgent basis.
