Rift over rent between south, north bodies

Even though the BJP rules all the three municipal corporations in Delhi, a rift seems to be deepening between north corporation and south corporation leaders, HT reports.

The north corporation which owns the 28-storey Civic Centre on Minto Road has asked the south corporation to pay a rent of Rs. 62 crore for using the premises to house its offices.

After trifurcation in April, the south corporation, which at present does not have a headquarter, chose to stay at the former MCD headquarters till the time their own office is built.

“The south corporation is a tenant in the Civic Centre and we have calculated a rent of Rs. 62 crore for their stay over the past nine months,” Yogender Chandolia, standing committee chairman said.
