Bachpan Bachao Andolan, in a letter to Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, has requested to sensitise the railway authorities to stop the trafficking of children and apprehend the traffickers at railway stations.
"The Railway authorities, in particular the Railway Police, must play a strict and vigilant role in checking the trafficking of children en-route," said Kailash Satyarthi, founder of Bachpan Bachao Andolan.
He said that rescued children are mostly brought by trains from their native villages.
"Such rescue operations are not a complete solution to stem the fast growing influx of poor and helpless children in the Capital's labour market," he said, adding that administration should play a key role to counter the menace.
The NGO also claimed that rescued child labourers will also get Rs 7 lakh as rehabilitation package.
