Rs 1-cr sewage machine to clean sewers

Protests by Indirapuram residents over overflowing sewage in the area have finally bore fruit as the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has decided to purchase a super-sucker machine to maintain cleanliness.

Besides, the construction of a 56-MLD capacity sewage treatment plant (STP) is likely to be completed in the next two months. GDA's vice-chairman Narendra Kumar Chaudhary said the sewage overflow problem in one of the best housing destinations of NCR would be resolved soon.

The super-sucker machine, which is likely to be procured in a couple of months, will cost around Rs 1 crore. Meanwhile, the authority has already spent around Rs 70 crore on the 56-MLD STP at Indirapuram.
