A Bench comprisng Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices P Sathasivam and B S Chauhan allowed the plea by Gupta whose one-year prison term awarded by the trial court was reduced to six months by the High Court.
After his conviction was upheld by the High Court, the accused had moved the apex court through senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi and Subramonium Prasad for bail.
Sanjeev Nanda was sentenced to two years of imprisonment for mowing down six persons by his car in 1999.
