SC issues notice to Badal and family

The SC seeks response from Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal and his family members on a petition filed by his predecessor Amarinder Singh seeking shifting of trial of corruption cases against them outside the State.

The Supreme Court on Friday sought response from Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his family members on a petition filed by his predecessor Amarinder Singh seeking shifting of trial of corruption cases against them outside the State.

A bench headed by Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan issued notices to Badal and his family members and posted the matter for further hearing for March 3.

However, the court said that the proceedings against them would continue.

A number of cases were registered against the Badals when Amarinder Singh was the Chief Minister of Punjab.
