Shahtoosh shawls seized at IGI airport

Customs officials at the Indira Gandhi International Airport arrested a passenger for trying to smuggle in Shahtoosh and Pashmina shawls worth Rs. 1.67 crore. Possession, import or export of Shahtoosh is banned.

The passenger, Umar Bashir Dar, who holds an Indian passport, arrived by flight AI 924 on July 31 at the airport. He was held and was found carrying 32 Shahtoosh Shawls and 70 Pashmina shawls.
