According to police, the woman, Renu was a trainer at a boutique in Natthu Colony area in Shahdara.
On Friday morning, she was returning home after work when the speeding train ran over her while she was crossing the railway tracks. Eyewitnesses told the police that earphones were plugged in Renu's ears and she was apparently listening to songs when the local train coming from Shamli in Uttar Pradesh crushed her.
"Some eyewitnesses told us that as soon as they saw the train coming towards Renu, they started shouting to warn her but she did not hear them because of the earphones in her ears. Renu died on the spot," said a railway police officer.
The deceased lived with her parents in New Ashok Nagar's B-block.
