Two elderly couples robbed in separate incidents

Two elderly couples were held hostage at gunpoint and robbed of cash and jewellry worth lakhs of rupees by unidentified miscreants in two separate incidents in the Capital on Tuesday morning.

Two elderly couples were held hostage at gunpoint and robbed of cash and jewellry worth lakhs of rupees by unidentified miscreants in two separate incidents in the Capital on Tuesday morning.

The first incident was reported from northwest Delhi under Keshav Puram police station where two assailants entered the house of a senior citizen couple, held them hostage at gunpoint and decamped with gold items weighing 20 tolas, eight silver coins and Rs 30,000 in cash. The victim couple has been identified as Panna Lal Gupta (87) and his wife Shanti Devi (82).

The incident took place around 11.45am, said Meenu Chaudhary, DCP (northwest).

In the second incident, four masked men barged into the ground floor residence of an elderly couple in northeast Delhi’s Jafarabad and robbed them of cash and jewellry worth around R7 lakh.

The incident took place around 11am and the victim couple has been identified as Hasimuddin (65) and his wife Haseena (60).
