According a Rashtrapati Bhavan communiqué, governors of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh K Sankaranarayanan and ESL Narasimhan were re-appointed for a second term.

While Wanchoo - who retired last year as the SPG's longest serving chief - has been appointed as governor of Goa, Qureshi will take over in Uttarakhand from Margaret Alva who has been shifted to Rajasthan for rest of her term.

This ends speculation about the names of Congress leaders being considered for Raj Bhavans.
