The match will be played between West Indies and South Africa. According to the weatherman, the city may see sporadic rain and thunderstorms on Thursday afternoon.

"The sky will be cloudy with possibility of rain and thundershowers during the day," an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Shallow fog is expected in the morning.

The temperature is expected to remain between 24 degrees and 12 degrees.

The unstable weather, that is being witnessed over the last two weeks, can be attributed to Western Disturbances over the Himalayas.

"I have bought tickets to the game. It will be very disappointed if the match is stopped because of rains. I just hope
that the Met department has got it wrong this time," said Rahul Agnihotri, a resident of Civil Lines.

But the Met department has predicted rainfall on Friday and Saturday as well.

"Sporadic rainfall can be expected till Saturday. Squalls and hailstorm may also strike the city during the weekend," said the weatherman.

Wednesday morning, meanwhile, started off on a chilly note with the minimum temperature at 10.1 degrees Celsius, a notch below average.

However, the sun soon took over the skies, and the mercury level touched 25.6 degrees, remaining above normal.
