The final countdown for students has begun with the results to the CBSE board examinations being a week away. To assist students through this crucial phase, helplines have once again paved the way to reach out to those in need of counselling.

“CBSE results are not only detrimental to the mental and physical health but also for the students’ future studies and careers. For those, who could not meet the societal expectations, the results become a nightmare,” said Adbul Mabood, director of Hopeline 2011, which is working to prevent any cases of suicide that may be an outcome of the results.

The telephonic counselling services, which are confidential, had been established to take care of anxiety and distress the students and their parents go through just before and immediately after the Board results of classes 10 and 12.

It also provides career guidance to those who need assistance deciding on a future course of action after the results.

“The focus at SNEHI, the founding body of Hopeline 2011, is on helping children and young people, particularly adolescents and youth through both, face-to-face and telephonic counselling,” said Mabood.

“We provide empathetic and non-judgemental support to students to help them improve their coping mechanisms to deal with situational psychological distress due to exam results,” he added.
