The Delhi Police were in a tizzy when they were informed about three bodies having floated down a drain in east Delhi on Monday morning.

According to police, the call was received around 11am with the caller stating that the bloated bodies of a woman, a man and a child had washed up at the New Ashok Nagar drain.
"Teams from the district's forensics and crime branch, in addition to a team of the Delhi Fire Services, rushed to the spot," said a senior police officer.
"Fortunately, only one of the three -the woman's - turned out to be a human body. The other two were of a calf and a dog."
The woman's body was highly decomposed. It was sent to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital. Police said if the victim's identity could not be ascertained, they would order a post-mortem examination on their own. "Since the drain in which the body flowed down also flows through adjacent Ghaziabad, it is possible that the victim was a resident of the area," said the officer.Police said they were contacting their counterparts in Ghaziabad and Noida. "We will register a case after establishing the identity of the woman," the officer added.
