1 lakh+ club: 10 candidates who enjoyed landslide wins in 2022 Assembly election
The BJP candidate from Sahibabad, Sunil Kumar Sharma, won by more than 2 lakh votes.
The Bharatiya Janata Party witnessed massive support as it returned to power in Uttar Pradesh for a second consecutive term. Several of the party's winning candidates won by margins of tens of thousands of votes, and some by more than one lakh. The BJP candidate from Sahibabad, Sunil Kumar Sharma, won by more than 2 lakh votes, while chief minister Yogi Adityanath won from Gorakhpur (urban) by more than 1 lakh votes.
Here is a list of the 10 highest winning margins for the 2022 UP Assembly polls:
Candidates with 1 Lakh + margin:
1. Sunil Kumar Sharma from BJP won his Sahibabad seat by a margin of 2.14 lakh votes, defeating Samajwadi Party’s Amarpal Sharma.
2. BJP’s Pankaj Singh won his Noida seat by a margin of 1.81 lakh votes, beating SP’s Sunil Choudhary.
3. Amit Agarwal registered a win for BJP in Meerut Cantt by a margin of 1.18 lakh votes.
4. BJP’s Purushottam Khandelwal won by a margin of 1.12 lakh votes from Agra North.
5. Manohar Lal won by 1.1 lakh votes from the Mehroni seat.
6. Shrikant Sharma from Mathura won by a margin of 1.08 lakh votes.
7. Ramratan Kushwaha won by a margin of 1.07 votes against the BSP candidate from Lalitpur.
8. BJP’s Atul Garg won by a margin of 1.05 votes from Ghaziabad.
9. Yogi Adityanath won from Gorakhpur (urban) by 1,03 lakh votes.
10. Anjula Singh Mahaur defeated BSP’s Sanjeev Kumar by 1 lakh votes in Hathras.
