Tarikere is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Chikmagalur district. People of Tarikere voted for Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
In Karnataka Assembly Election 2018, there were 1,80,158 registered voters for Tarikere assembly seat, out of which 91,265 were male and 88,884 were female voters. 0.4% of voters opted for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election, there were 12 candidates in the fray from Tarikere constituency. Tarikere was one of 104 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's D S Suresh won the election upstaging independent candidate G H Srinivasa by a margin of 11,687 votes.
The top three candidates split 72.5% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's D S Suresh secured a total of 44,940 votes, while independent candidate G H Srinivasa got 33,253 votes. Independent candidate H M Gopi bagged 29,663 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 30.2%, 22.3% and 19.9% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's G.H Srinivasa defeated Karnataka Jantha Paksha's D.S Suresh by 899 votes.
