Shanaya Kapoor decks up as 'desi Barbie' in pink suit, internet reacts: 'But you talk only in English'

Shanaya Kapoor was joined by cousin Khushi Kapoor at a recent celebration and shared a series of pictures from their outing with friends.

Shanaya Kapoor channelled her inner Barbie as she stepped out for what appeared to be a friend's pre-wedding bash in Mumbai on Monday. The budding actor, who will make her debut with Mohanlal's pan-India film Vrushabha, shared a bunch of photos from the night, which also featured cousin Khushi Kapoor, who is also awaiting her acting debut with Netflix film, The Archies.

Shanaya Kapoor turns into 'desi Barbie'

Taking to Instagram, Shanaya Kapoor wrote along with the photos, "Desi (Indian) Barbie..." She wore a pink suit with white embroidery and a matching dupatta. Shanaya completed her ethnic look with shimmery juttis and a pair of pearl and gold earrings.

Apart from some solo pictures of her smiling and posing in front of floral decorations at the event, Shanaya shared a few group pictures featuring Khushi Kapoor and their friends. Khushi wore a pale purple saree for the festivities.

Fans showered love on Shanaya's ethnic look. One called her 'desi kudi (girl)." A fan also wrote, "Who cares about Barbie! It is desi kudi!" Another said, "Let's announce Shanaya as India's national crush..." Actor Vaani Kapoor also commented, "So pretty..." A fan also wrote, "Pretty in pink."

Meanwhile, an Instagram user joked about Shanaya's caption, writing, "A desi Barbie, who talks only in English and considers speaking in Hindi as a symbol of non-classy, uneducated types..."

Shanaya's acting debut

It was recently announced that Shanaya's film debut will not be Karan Johar's Bedhadak alongside Lakshya Lalwani and Gurfateh Pirzada, instead she'll be launched with Mohanlal's pan-India film Vrushabha.

Moreover, as per a Pinkvilla report, Karan is turning his Student of the Year franchise into a web series, with the next installment, Student of the Year 3, marking the OTT debut of Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor’s daughter Shanaya. The Disney+ Hotstar show is expected to introduce some more fresh faces alongside Shanaya, and the casting process for that is reportedly underway.

Shanaya has already worked in the capacity of an assistant director on cousin-actor Janhvi Kapoor-starrer Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl. However, her transition into acting has been discussed over the past few years.
