For long, Celina Jaitley has sported poker-straight, long tresses. But fans were in for a surprise when they saw her in a brand new avatar — with a blunt cut.

The model-turned-actress is excited about the new hairstyle. “Oh, I am in love with my new look. I look so different yet so good. I had long hair for ages now, so I was looking for a change,” Jaitley said. When she gets bored with the short hair, she will just grow them long again! “I need not worry because my hair grows quite fast,” she added.

Though she was a little skeptical when Mahesh Nair, director of her forthcoming film Accident on the Hill Road,
proposed the idea to her, he succeeded in convincing her. “I’m happy I experimented,” she says.

It was important for her to look this way in order to do justice to her character in the film. “The movie is based on a true story, hence I avoided wearing a wig and opted to look real.”

Celina, who says that trends and styles from the 1940s and ’50s are back in vogue, said, “Me getting this kinda haircut now just goes with the trend.” Rajmata Gayatri Devi had a similar cut, so the actress is even more excited about sporting the same.

Asked about responses to the new look, she said, “Some love it, some did not recognise me, while others find it complementing my face and body structure.” But it’s one of her closest friends who made the most interesting comparison — he likened her new look to her dog Gooblee’s. “He felt now I look exactly like him,” concluded Celina.
