Replying to Rana's tweet, Karan wrote: “This looks fantastic Rana!!!! Can’t wait to see it! Intense Raw and Riveting!!! You are superb! And I am a huge @Sai_Pallavi92 fan (sic).”

Rana and Priyamani play naxals in the film. Sai Pallavi will be seen playing a character inspired by real-life singer-activist Belli Lalitha, who falls in love with Rana. Belli Lalitha was a popular folk singer-turned-activist and she played a crucial role in the fight for statehood of Telangana region in early 1990s. She was kidnapped and killed in 1999.

Directed by Venu Udugala, Virata Parvam sheds light on the Naxal movement, specifically the moral dilemma that prevailed during the last decade. The film also stars Nandita Das in a crucial role. It marks her return to Telugu cinema after a decade.

When Nandita began shooting for the project, she had said that she was both nervous as well thrilled to be shooting in Telugu after a long gap. “I am doing the film for the script, the director’s vision and the role. Had no idea who I was replacing and how it mattered. In Hyderabad, started shooting for the film. Nervous about speaking Telugu,” Nandita had said in a statement.

“I’m shooting for a film, that too in a language I speak after over a decade! But once I was on set, the whole atmosphere brought back the joy of being part of strong stories without having the responsibilities of being the director,” she added.
