Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, directed by Anil Ravipudi, had a strong opening, grossing over ₹65 crore worldwide on Sunday (including Saturday paid previews). The film then held steady at the domestic box office on Monday, registering a mere 40% drop. The film collected ₹19.50 crore net on Monday. The film’s domestic collection stands at ₹61.10 crore net ( ₹73.25 crore gross) after two days.

Internationally, the film had a solid start, earning $2.3 million on the opening day. The film’s overseas collection now stands at over $3 million after two days, which takes its worldwide gross easily past ₹100 crore.

Prabhas’ The Raja Saab was set to be the biggest Pongal release this year. It justified that tag somewhat with a ₹53-crore opening day in India last Friday. But since then, due to negative word of mouth, the film has been in free fall. On Monday, The Raja Saab earned just ₹4.85 crore, less than one-fourth of what Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu managed on the same day. The Chiranjeevi film is likely to see an upswing in collections for Pongal, further strengthening its position.
