A woman anxious to have a baby hid her murderer husband in the cupboard and only let him out when she wanted to have sex with him. Why? Because he escaped from prison and she was desperate to get pregnant before the cops caught him.
Jenet Treharne, defending, told Daily Mail: 'They wanted an opportunity to spend some intimate time together to start a family. Claire Thomas knows that she was very foolish.'
The Court said that Thomas (husband) knew that his wife was 'very anxious' to have a baby.
Earlier, Claire had also sent a letter to the justice secretary asking for IVF treatment.
Jenet further added that Claire was unaware that Thomas had escaped from prison when he arrived at her doorstep. According to Jenet, Claire had also spoken to her husband about giving himself up to the police but her 'wish for a child had seemed greater'.
Claire claimed that he was with her only for 20 minutes but the cops believe that she hid him for at least two days.
He was captured three days after he escaped.
Judge sentenced Claire to 24 weeks imprisonment suspended for 18 months.
