2002: For her first appearance, Aishwarya wore a yellow sari and gold jewellery. It was to promote her film Devdas that she chose this traditional attire which was highly criticised.
2003: A catastrophe had struck Aishwarya’s fashion sense, twice in a row, clearly a newbie at such events, when she made a ghastly appearance in a green ethnic drape.
2004: After last year’s sartorial disaster, she bid goodbye to saris and gave way to a revealing gown, but her efforts went in vain as the critics didn’t appreciate the change.
2005: After three years of disappointing the fashion police, the former Miss World stunned everyone with a beautiful printed dress by Giorgio Armani.
2006: Ash’s 2006 appearance got another thumbs up from both the fashion critics and fans. Dressed in a navy-blue gown, she rocked the look with a signature snake-shaped neck-piece.
2007: This year, after her marriage to Abhishek Bachchan, she sported a gorgeous white gown. Ash was appreciated for her dress and for accessorising it with shining diamonds.
2008: This year, the actor swept the Cannes floor with a bold plunging neck-line and got appreciated for her evolved style maturity.
2009: In 2009, Aishwarya was again applauded by the fashion police of the world for a hot yet elegant look as the actor sported a Roberto Cavalli frilly gown.
2010: This time she was promoting Raavan at Cannes. She opted for a black strapless Armani Prive gown and she added a dash of colour with her red lipstick
2011: Now, a red-carpet veteran, Aishwarya, stunned one and all with an elegant Elie Saab one shoulder embroidered gown.
2012: Last year, Ash’s weight gain was talked about around the world. The new mommy silenced the critics with her confidence, but her Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla look didn’t get a great response.
2013: This year, Ash won applause from the fashion pundits by taking the Indian route and wearing a floor-length anarkali by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla.
