Accessory designer Lulu Guiness on red lips and why logo bags are a big faux pas.

Lulu Guiness, the famous accessory designer from the UK, who was recently in the city, says, “I enjoy making bags with different techniques, concepts and themes.” And that explains why her signature bags are often shaped like lips, a bouquet of roses and other such interesting styles. She says, “I draw by inspiration from real things around me — be it flowers, butterfly or river.”

Another trade mark is Lulu’s red lips. She says, “I love red lipstick. You will never find me without it. Most of my bags have imprints of lips, pout or lipstick in someway or the other on them.”

An icon for bag lovers, one couldn’t help but ask the lady for tips on the right bag style. Lulu says, “There should be a different bag for different hours in the day. It’s a style slip to assume one bag can work for all occasions.

Also, for office, carry a big bag where you can stuff everything, right from your laptop to other basic things. Evenings are all about fun, so bright clutches look great. These days, cross body bags are also getting very popular for daytime.”
