The LFW runways in Mumbai, on day 2, were replete with holiday-feel, breezy outfits.

Designer: Vivek Karunakaran
Age: 30
Known for: Lounge fashion

Trend: Beach wear
Review: Chennai-based Vivek Karunakaran came out with his creations, especially in whites, with interesting surfaces that was fresh in its appeal. Modern Jumpsuits, and 50s look-inspired layered shirt dresses looked interesting on the ramp. The colours too bought in the summer flavour.

Designer: Anand Kabra
Age: 36
Known for: Geometric prints

Trend: Drapes on tunics and saris
Review: Anand Kabra’s models came in interesting hairstyles. The clothes showed a synergy between prints and hairstyling. The geometric prints in subtle colours like black, white and grey were the highpoint.

Designer: Jatin Varma
Age: 30
Known for: Voluminous bodices

Trend: Flowy drapes
Review: Jatin Varma, who had a great show last season, was a bit of a let down this time as he showed a collection that looked repetitive. The colours were different but the treatment remained the same. The overall finishing too lacked the structure and appeal.

Designer: Manish Malhotra
Age: 35
Known for: Chiffon saris and drapes

Trend: Intricate embroidery
Review: . Using embroidery techniques from Kashmir and a fair sprinkle of chikankari works on the surface, Manish presented a collection that was high on appeal. The designer’s interpretation for men was more structured while he opted to keep plenty of volume for women.

Designer: Masaba Gupta
Age: 22
Known for: Fusion saris

Trend: Checks, dots and stripes
Review: Masaba Gupta presented a collection that had an interesting dosage of checks, dots and stripes in vibrant colours. Her collection saw short summer dresses and saris that were contemporary, innovative and like the designer herself very young in appeal.

Designers: Shivan and Narresh
Age: 26 and 25
Known for: Swimwear

Trend: Structured bikinis
Review: The designer duo Shivan & Narresh opted for a subdued colour palette and their well made collection included bikinis (who else in India can make it better than them?), swimsuits, tankinis, dresses, body suits and stylish kaftans.

Narmada AhujaMore goss from the front row

Ladies day out
Designer Manish Malhotra may not have got any stars to walk his ramp but actors Kareena Kapoor, Sushma Reddy, Sophie Chaudhary, Amrita Rao and Sameera Reddy graced his front row

Family support
While actor Neena Gupta has always come to support her daughter Masaba, it was daddy Vivian Richards who also came this time to cheer. The parents beamed throughout the show.

Fashion belles
Bollywood actors Mugdha Godse, Narmada Ahuja, Soniya Mehra lent some celeb presence during the day time shows. The ladies were in high spirits as they were seen watching the day shows in rapt attention.

Also on the ramp
Actors Tusshar Kapoor and Priti Desai added Bollywood glamour as they both walked the ramp for designer Sabbah Sharma. Despite a lukewarm response from attendees they tried to look cheerful.
