Take a look at popular Indian textiles with this unique fashion show.

Here’s your chance to choose accessories from an array of traditional Indian textiles on display at this exhibition. Called The Magic of Gifted Hands, this fashion accessories show on Indian handicrafts by the Ministry of Textiles, will be held in the city today.

As part of the Handicrafts Week, which began on December 8, the event aims to promote Indian handicrafts in the global markets. The show offers an extensive preview of major handicraft categories including needle crafted embellishments on textiles, bags, belts, stoles or shawls, footwear and jewelleries.

The highlight of the event will be the theme-based fashion show. While the Chikankari from Lucknow will be displayed with the theme of Heritage, Kantha from West Bengal will be exhibited with Evolution.

Other popular fabrics and textile techniques from India such as Andhra Pradesh’s Kalamkari, Ikat from Orissa, Rajasthan’s Block Printing, Phulkari from Punjab and Jute and Brocade will be displayed with themes such as Industry, Innovations, Refinement, Dynamic Momentum and Energy respectively.

The three-day festival will also include the release of Trends Book on Indian fashion, jewellery and accessories.
