Modern, elegant saris by Satya Paul have always been in great demand and are a must in any fashionista’s wardrobe. The designer’s Pop Art designs in particular have won over many a trendsetter. Now he is creating a whole new buzz with his Series3 and his demand springs from… Silicon Valley.

A new range features one uber-sexy sari that captures in its drapes the phenomenon that is Google. In the range that the designer recently showcased is one sari printed with the words Ooogle very much in the style, font and colours in which Google is written. The sari has caught everyone’s fancy especially Indian women living in Silicon Valley.

Women who work with Google are particularly keen to lay their hand on the Ooogle sari that sells for Rs 11,995 or $299.88. Says Satya Paul, “A reflection of popular culture in art Pop art is neither praise nor condemnation but explores the everyday imagery that is so much a part of contemporary consumer culture.”

A friend of this reporter who works in the Silicon Valley said, “Desis at the Google Head Office want all the women Noogles i.e the new employees at Google to drape the sari and come to work.” The craze for the sari has also, in fact, led to a debate — are logo branded saris the trend for the future?
