The 24-year-old Barbadian singer made the revelation to Hollywood Life at the Met Costume Institute Gala, where she stunned on the red carpet in a sleek, black leather gown embossed with an alligator print. The low-backed Tom Ford dress successfully struck the delicate balance between sophisticated and rock n’ roll.

“I’m doing my own collection,” the New York Post quoted her as saying.

“I’m working on it,” continued Rihanna, when asked how her collection was coming.

“It will reflect my personal style,” she added.

She took a step towards becoming a fashion designer last year, collaborating with Emporio Armani on a small capsule collection.

Rihanna, who has also modelled for the brand, did a second small collection for them this year, creating a denim jumpsuit and an edgy biker jacket among other items.

“It’s a collaboration, and it’s like 7 to 10 pieces. Apparel and accessories,” Rihanna recently told ‘ Air with Ryan Seacrest’ of her Armani collection.

“After that I’m really pursuing a fashion line of my own. I want to design. This is also a road that I want to earn it.

“So I’m working with designers that I respect, and companies that I respect. I want people to really trust me before I just say, ‘Buy it, because it’s mine’,” she said.
