Tulsi Kumar is known for singing romantic numbers like Soch Na Sake (Airlift; 2016), Tum Jo Aye (Once Upon A Time In Mumbai; 2010), Tu Hai Ki Nahi (Roy; 2015). Much like her songs are music to the ears, her closet is a feast for the eyes. Kumar, dressed in a green crop top and a pair of denim shorts, gives a walk-through.
Style statement: “I like the cute, girl-next-door look but I can play around with being classy. I prefer being minimalistic with my look. So, you’ll find a lot of fun and cute stuff in my closet.”
Collector’s items: “I collect a lot of shoes — I have at least 70 pairs. I get them from the children’s section at times since I have small feet. I also like collecting dresses, but I’m finicky about the fit. Since I have a petite frame, I have to tailor-make all my clothes so they are of the right fit and length.”
Pastels please: “I like matte, soft colours. You’ll see a lot of feminine hues. I don’t wear deep colours. Pastels dominate my wardrobe.”
Shop till you drop: “I am a shopping freak. If I go to a mall, I have to come out purchasing something. My Hermès Birkin bag and my Stella McCartney shoes have been my most lavish purchases. I also shop from Net-a-Porter and the Selfridges websites.”
Brand value: “I love dresses from Self Portrait. Their cuts and fit flatter my body type. Zara stocks a lot of trendy outfits for every day. For casuals, it has to be Miss Selfridge.”
As you like it: “I usually go for one statement accessory and keep the rest of the look simple. For my stage performances, I like to have a single bling element. I generally get all my style tips from my sister, Khushali, who has trained me well on what looks good on me and what I should be avoiding.”
