Stars who walked the runway were Chitrangada Singh for designer Arpan Vohra and Shruti Haasan for designer Satyapaul.
Shruti was dressed in a blue silk sari with a border and long sleeved black net choli, which was a part of the art of tarot collection. About how comfortable she felt in a sari, Shruti said, “This sari is very comfortable so it was quite easy.”
Chitrangada wore a beige corset style embellished baby doll dress with a voluminous taffeta fall below the waist. Though the below the knee length of her dress was a little iffy by style standards, Singh who by now has become a pro at catwalks did justice to her part as the showstopper.
If there was some action on the runway the front row saw even serious frenzy as Bollywood’s first couple Amitabh Bachchan and his wife and veteran actress Jaya Bachchan came to watch Anupama Dayal and Nachiket Barve’s dual show. Amitabh, who was Barve’s guest for the evening, was dressed in a grey suit and white shirt. Jaya came dressed in a black saree with a colourful border designed by Barve.
Barve said, “I have always shied away from Indian wear because I felt it should not look like someone else and have to have my own stamp and a distinct visual language. It was the first sari I have made and it was for her (Jaya Bachchan).”
Barve was humbled by Amitabh’s presence and said: “He has attended any fashion week for the first time today. It was a very humbling experience and I am super glad. He has seen my work privately but it was very nice of him to grace the occasion.”
Some other B town people seen at the event included Neena Gupta, who came to support daughter Masaba. Starlet Tanushree Dutta came with her sister in tow. Sophie Chaudhary and Jackie Shroff were amongst the others who gave shutterbugs some clicking moments off the ramp.
