Designer Tarun Tahiliani sent invite to designers through his mail attached with an old mail which read “I would like to propose that Rohit Bal and I come back on the board (FDCI).”
Even as designer Tarun Tahiliani closed the fashion week last evening in grand style, an email sent earlier by him to the fraternity created ripples. The one line email, supposedly to invite designers to his grand finale show, had attached with it another year-old mail, that read, “I would like to propose that Rohit Bal and I come back on the board (FDCI).”

It added, “Sunil Sethi (FDCI President) is under tremendous pressure and I want a logical board in place to support the industries needs and him (sic).” As the word spread, the mail that reminded designers of the upheaval last year, became a talking point. “What sort of political game is this? Why create trouble when things are going good now?” asked designer Bharat Mehra.
While Sethi chose to stay away from controversy saying, "I’d rather keep the focus on the fabulous work that is happening," Tahiliani later called it an error. "As you can see it was from last Sept and not relevant to the new energy and how we work today. Mr Sethi has done a great job of this week. Let’s not make a mountain of a mole hill because some inexperienced assistant pressed the wrong button."
