Jimmy Choo is a real man (not just a label). And, on his first ever visit to Delhi, the world’s most famous shoemaker, has promised to uplift millions of vertically-challenged Indian men. "It’s time I made high-heeled shoes for men," joked the designer whose famous clients include Katie Holmes, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kareena Kapoor.

Choo, who hails from Malaysia, said: “High-heeled men-shoes would be good for people like me and other men, even in India, who are short.” The footwear designer wowed design students with his charm and wit at the British Council Library.

Choo launched his label in 1996. His custom designed shoes for Princess Diana catapulted him to fame. Born to a shoemaker, Jimmy spent “only six years in school” and studied footwear design at the University of Arts, London. “I wasn’t always THE JIMMY CHOO, people used to laugh at my sketches and teachers even ordered me to ‘stay out of class’,” but Jimmy added, “it was sheer hard work and a belief in my craftsmanship that made me what I am today.”
