During the Bosnia & Herzegovina vs Greece World Cup qualifier match on Sunday in Piraeus (Greece), Edin Dzeko, was sent off by referee Jonas Eriksson for his involvement in an altercation with Kyriakos Papadopoulos.
Dzeko, who is the skipper of Bosnia, plays club football for AS Roma. The striker brought down by with just 15 minutes remaining.The incident happened when the Greek defender tried to take the ball away from Dzeko, who ripped down Papadopoulos’ shorts in retaliation while still lying on the ground.
A melee followed involving players from both sides. And Dzeko and Papadopoulos were shown red cards.
Greece managed to equalize soon after with Giorgos Tzavelas scoring five minutes into injury time to earn a point for the hosts. Miralem Pjanic had scored for Bosnia from a free-kick.
Greece is now placed second in Group H, just two points behind leaders Belgium, who beat Estonia 8-1 in Brussels on Sunday. Bosnia, are in third place after the draw.
