11 men gang rape woman for eight days, two arrested

Police arrested two men from Nuh for allegedly gang raping a 21-year-old woman over eight days. The duo, along with nine others, had allegedly abducted and gang raped the woman repeatedly in Gurugram and Ghaziabad.

Police arrested two men from Nuh on Monday for allegedly gang-raping a 21-year-old woman over eight days. The duo, along with nine other accomplices, had allegedly abducted and gang-raped the woman repeatedly in Gurugram and Ghaziabad during this time, police said, adding that a hunt is on to nab the other suspects.

The victim said in her complaint that around 2am on February 24, three men, who live in the same area, barged into her house and abducted her in a car. They allegedly took her somewhere in Gurugram, where 11 men raped her. Next day they allegedly took her to Ghaziabad where they kept her in a house at an isolated place and raped her several times. They warned her not to reveal the incident, police said.

The suspects are from Nuh area where the woman lives with her husband, police said. The victim was dropped in Pinangwan, Nuh, some 142km from Ghaziabad, on March 4.

The victim narrated her ordeal after reaching her parents’ house on the same day but did not approach police as she was under trauma, said police. The girl’s father had approached the police on March 1 and lodged a missing complaint.

“The family came to us on Monday and after preliminary investigation, we have registered the case under section 376D (gangrape). Her medical examination was conducted on Monday at a government hospital. We are conducting raids to arrest the remaining accused,” said Sangeeta Kalia, superintendent of police, Nuh.

The victim’s statement was recorded under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) before a magistrate on Tuesday.

On Saturday night, a 27-year-old Delhi resident was allegedly gang raped by two men in Gurugram. According to the police, the incident happened when the victim was waiting for a cab at Iffco Chowk to go to Delhi.

On February 20, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by three men, who kept her captive in a room in Daulatabad village for over 24 hours. According to police, the girl went missing on February 18 when she had gone to purchase milk and her parents had lodged a missing persons’ complaint at Sadar police station.
