According to doctors attending on him, Hazare is “stable”.

“He has shown a lot of improvement. We are keeping him under observation,” said a senior doctor at the hospital.

“He will be discharged in a couple of days,” the doctor said.

Hazare was admitted at 10am on Friday after he complained of weakness, acidity, nausea, vomiting and cough. He was later diagnosed with gastritis. Doctors at the hospital kept the 75-year-old in the ICU to ensure “his condition did not deteriorate”.

The social activist’s aide Kiran Bedi and anti-graft leader Arvind Kejriwal broke the news of his ill health on a social networking website.

“Anna is admitted in Medanta and under intensive care of a team of doctors. What are the health issues only doctors can say as professionals!” Bedi said.
