The traffic signals became functional from Friday evening even though it resulted in traffic jams during peak office hours.

“The Huda (Haryana Urban Development Authority) has installed the traffic lights. The lights and the new speed breakers are definitely a breather for the residents,” said PC Bardhan, a resident of H block and one of the participants of the April 17 protest.

“Another big problem is the lack of streetlights. The whole expressway is one long dark stretch,” Bardhan added.

The Gurgaon police commissioner and traffic officials had visited the site a day after the protest.

“The traffic lights and the speed breakers have made a lot of difference in slowing down the vehicles and making the expressway safer for pedestrians even during night time,” said GB Singh, a resident of G block, DLF Phase I.

“Huda administrator Praveen Kumar has said that around Rs 40 lakh has been sanctioned for installation of streetlights on the Gurgaon-Faridabad expressway. He has said the project would take about three months for completion,” added Singh.
