Despite the police directing mall owners to install biometric systems on their premises - to register the entry of visitors between 10.30pm and 1.45am - only two malls on the MG Road have followed the order.

While the biometric system installed at Sahara Mall is in working condition, the one at MGF Metropolitan Mall is out of order. Though some pubs have also installed biometric systems, these are not functioning properly. MG Road houses nine malls and nearly 50 bars.
The HT team visited MG Road on November 9 to get a feel of the ground reality.
At MGF Metropolitan Mall, the biometric system was out of order and security guards did not note down the details of visitors who came between 11.15pm and 1.30am.
PS Puri, senior officer, MGF Metropolitan Mall management, told HT, "There is a technical error in the machine and we will rectify it soon."
On the other hand, Sahara Mall management ensures that the entry register is updated and visitors are not allowed after 1:30am. "We are taking care of the entry and exit timings. We will not take any chance with the safety of visitors," said JK Gupta, regional head, Sahara Mall.
DCP (East) Maheshwar Dayal said, "We will soon check whether or not malls have made required arrangements."
