Zone 3 includes areas such as DLF Phases 1-5, Sushant Lok Phase-1, Suncity and condominiums located on the Golf Course Road and Mehrauli-Gurgaon (MG) Road.

As per MCG officials, three teams have been constituted for the purpose and they will be visiting areas in the zone and informing residents about the facility and also collecting taxes from their doorstep.

“Officials in the three teams will be carrying point of sale (POS) machines, which will allow residents to make card transactions on the spot and receive a receipt in return. To ensure that residents are assured that the officials are from the MCG, photos and contact details of these officials have been uploaded on the MCG’s website, www.mcg.gov.in,” YS Gupta, joint commissioner, MCG, said.

The MCG started the facility in November 2017 to procure tax dues from residents who are often dissuaded by the heavy rush at the MCG offices in Sector 34 and Civil Lines and prefer to default on the payment instead.

After filling their mobile number and unique property ID, once payment is made, taxpayers will get an SMS confirmation apart from a receipt.

To validate their payment, residents have the option of visiting the MCG website and downloading tax payment receipts.

For any queries they can call on MCG’s toll-free number —1800 180 1817 .

On Friday, aside from increasing their cash flow through door-to-door collection of property tax, officials also sealed 27 commercial plots in Udyog Vihar Phases 1-5 after owners defaulted on their payments despite repeated notices.

In 2017, after introducing multiple rebate schemes and being the first municipal body to auction properties of tax defaulters, the MCG collected its highest annual collection of Rs 472 crore.
