With almost 100% attendance, the city police will put in extra hours of duty to maintain round-the-clock patrolling with two shifts. "We have not sanctioned leaves to any police personnel, unless it is an emergency. We have also directed all SHOs at police stations to be alert," said Surinder Pal, DCP (west).
DCP (east) Maheshwar Dayal, who is in-charge of New Gurgaon localities such as DLF City and Sushant Lok, also ensured tight security ahead of the festival season.
The 140-strong fire department, under the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), will work 24 hours a day to keep an eye on mishaps.
"Till November 15, no employee can avail leave for Diwali," said assistant divisional fire mitigation officer, Mahender Singh Bhardwaj.
The department has 25 fire tenders that will be deployed in different areas of the city for swift response in case of an accident.
Traffic police plans for Diwali
Ahead of Diwali festivities, the Gurgaon traffic police plans to deploy its entire force, including 50 PCR vans and 45 motorcycle-borne constables, to keep a strict vigil in the city.
The department has 310 personnel, including women constables, and has asked for additional manpower from 23 police stations across the district.
The force is currently inadequate to effectively cover the entire city. At present, 24 spots in DLF City, South City and Sushant Lok have no traffic police presence.
ACP (traffic) Ravinder Tomar said, "During Diwali, traffic volume increases considerably, especially around areas like MG Road. We have planned to deploy teams in all areas that witness high footfalls in the festival season."
