Red ribbon Express to Reach state next month

The Red Ribbon Express (RRE), a special train traversing through the country to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS, will be in Haryana from December 6 to 12.

The Red Ribbon Express (RRE), a special train traversing through the country to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS, will be in Haryana from December 6 to 12.

A government spokesman said on Friday that the RRE would halt in Panipat, Kurukshetra and Ambala Cantonment.

Haryana health minister Rao Narender Singh will be the chief guest at the inaugural function to be held at Panipat on December 6. The train will be in Kurukshetra from December 8 to 10. From December 10, the train will be at Ambala Cantt. It would leave for Chandigarh on December 12, he added.

The spokesman said this time the focus would be on youths. The third phase of RRE was launched on January 12 on the National Youth Day to create awareness about HIV/AIDS and other communicable diseases.

He said that RRE has traversed through 23 states, halting at over 162 stations. Its aim is to spread awareness among the youth on HIV/AIDS.

The National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) will hold exhibitions on tuberculosis, malaria, reproductive and child healthcare services, general health and hygiene.
