Once every year, Hollywood’s television stars reign over their film counterparts. Sunday was that day as the Primetime 62nd annual Emmy Awards, held in Los Angeles, saw both usual suspects and surprise winners walk away with the honours.
Drama series Mad Men, which fans in India are still waiting to catch a glimpse of, kept its crown as the best drama series, while comedy show Modern Familydethroned 30 Rock to emerge best in the genre.
India made it’s presence felt at the ceremony, too, as British actor of Indian origin Archie Panjabi, who starred in Bend it like Beckham, bagged the award for the best supporting actress in a drama series for her role in The Good Wife. Hollywood heartthrob George Clooney, too, won an award, but one that had little to do with his acting - he was presented with the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award.
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart was named as best variety series for the eighth year in a row while Top Chef, hosted by former model Padma Lakshmi, won in the reality TV category over seven-time winner The Amazing Race.
