After much delay, Avatar’s production work will start on September 25, 2017

All you Avatar fans out there have reason to rejoice. After a long gap of 8 years, production on the sequel to filmmaker James Cameron’s Avatar (2009) is set to begin in September this year. Actor Sam Worthington will return to play Jake Sully. Speaking at 20th Century Fox’s presentation at the annual CineEurope gathering in Barcelona, Lightstorm Entertainment’s Jon Landau said the Avatar sequel will head into production on September 25, 2017. He even praised Cameron saying that the director “has done a couple of sequels before in his career and I would argue that those sequels have lived up to, if not exceeded, the original movies.”

The sequels were facing a lot of setbacks owing to the constant re-scheduling. Principal photography of the film was supposed to start in August this year, with Cameron even announcing that treatment for all the four films has already been completed. But it has again been delayed by another month.

Avatar, an epic science fiction film had broken all box-office records upon its release in 2009, with special praise directed towards Cameron for utilising the latest technology to infuse the film with the best special effects.
