The final trailer for John Carter the sci-fi adventure in 3D was released February 28.

Based on the classic series of novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the story follows a former war captain who is mysteriously transported to Mars aka Barsoom and becomes involved in an epic battle among its creatures.

This version reveals more action in the story with the inhabitants' artillery and warships, and shows Carter's special powers as well as him helping the princess save her planet.

With dazzling visual effects, this world of 12-foot aliens and giant monsters is directed by Oscar winner Andrew Stanton (WALL-E).

The film stars Taylor Kitsch (X-Men: Wolverine) in the title role, Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man 3) as Thark, Mark Strong (Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy), Ciaran Hinds (Harry Potter), and Lynn Collins (True Blood).

John Carter opens in 3D and IMAX worldwide on March 7-9 and Japan on April 13.
