Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman go back a long way. After surviving the collective trauma of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the duo has developed a playful relationship in real life, which usually means that they periodically poke each other on Twitter. On Thursday, just one day before Reynolds’ latest film, the superhero sequel Deadpool 2 is released around the world, the actor paid a visit to Jackman’s coffee shop in New York.
They marked the visit with a photograph, just as they’ve done on many occasions - Reynolds, often in character as Deadpool, is known to crash Jackman’s timeline from time to time. Both stars shared the photos on their Twitter accounts. Jackman captioned his by writing, “We put out word that @laughingmanco is looking for a new barista .... and, @VancityReynolds shows up??”
Reynolds responded with: “Coincidentally, I ran into @RealHughJackman at his coffee shop, @laughingmanco after I followed him there.”
Reynolds and Jackman co-starred in the poorly received X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009, which has been lampooned on several occasions in the Deadpool movies, including Deadpool 2. Jackman also finds himself on the receiving end of Deadpool’s jokes in both films.
Reynolds and Jackman’s previous crossover was in April, when Reynolds appeared in his full Deadpool costume to interrupt Jackman as he recorded a heartfelt video message.
Jackman retired the Wolverine character in 2017’s Logan. Reynolds is expected to reprise his role as Deadpool in a future X-Force movie.
