After The Lord of the Rings series and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, period roles seem to have caught English actor Orlando Bloom’s fancy. Bloom will be now seen battling swords as the Duke of Buckingham in a reinterpretation of the novel, The Three Musketeers. The 3D action-adventure hits the screens here today.

“My character is more of a child, which I am trying to explore in myself, and this helped me a lot,” says Bloom, 34, revealing the reason behind his movie choices. “Actually I’m old-school English,” he says.

Bloom, who has a 10-month-old son, Flynn, with his supermodel wife Miranda Kerr, has now new priorities in his life. “Indeed, I’ve a few... I’m quite protective, especially of ‘time’ now. Since I’m a father, every moment is precious to me,” says the Hollywood heartthrob, who thinks woman looks hot in “one of his shirts.”
