Ugly Betty star America Ferrera inspired by India to visit her parents’ birthplace in Honduras for the first time.

Ugly Betty star America Ferrera says she was so moved by the experience of filming the documentary, Half the Sky: Turning Oppression Into Opportunity for Women Worldwide — which investigates childhood prostitution in India — that it inspired her to visit her parents’ birthplace in Honduras for the first time.

“I was born in the US and I had never been to my home in Honduras. I (just) went with the One Campaign. I asked them to shine a light on the women and girls there,” she says.
