Life of Pi director Ang Lee in India today
Academy award winning director Ang Lee will be landing today in India on a quick trip to promote his latest flick, Life of Pi, reports Robin Bansal.
Oscar-winning Hollywood filmmaker Ang Lee is landing in India this evening on a short and quick trip to promote his much-awaited 3D adventure film, Life of Pi. Based on Canadian author Yann Martel’s Booker prize winning 2001 novel of the same name, it stars Delhi boy Suraj Sharma in the lead.
“Ang actually wanted to come to India first for the movie promotion. In fact, he has reversed the promotional strategy for India and will go to other countries from here rather than the other way around,” a source from Fox Star Studios, the distributors of the film here, told us.
"He shot the film here (in Puducherry and Munnar) and he also wanted Suraj to get the right exposure from his own country itself," the source added. The Taiwanese-born American director also wants to make up for as much time as possible to spread the word about the movie here as he won’t be present at the lavish premiere of the film in India. The 58-year-old is flying in from New York, and will promote the flick in Mumbai on October 29. He will then fly to Chennai on October 30. Also starring Irrfan, Tabu, Adil Hussain, Gerard Depardieu and Rafe Spall, Life of Pi will hit Indian screens on November 23 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
