Hollywood actor of Indian origin Freida Pinto has been praised by Michelle Obama, the first lady of the United States of America, for an editorial piece.

Freida is the ambassador and co-producer of the Girl Rising movement, (a programme that aims to get girls into classrooms all across the globe) and has been at the forefront of campaigns, especially those targeted at India.

The 30-year-old actor recently wrote an editorial piece for an international magazine, talking about the need for education for girls and children with reference to the latest initiative, Let Girls Learn — a collaboration between the US First Lady, the Peace Corps, and other organisations, like Girl Rising.

In appreciation for Freida’s article, Michelle Obama tweeted: @FLOTUS Worth a read: “There Is a Truth I Believe to Be Absolute” —@BecauseImFreida in @GlamourMag on helping #LetGirlsLearn: http://glmr.me/1MB458F (sic)”.
