A new 30-second TV spot for Red Sparrow, Jennifer Lawrence’s new spy movie, was released during the Super Bowl. The price tag for 30 seconds during the major sporting event is reportedly $5 million, or Rs 32 crore. Like the first official trailer, this one also looks like the Black Widow movie Marvel never gave its fans. But with the success of Charlize Theron’s Atomic Blonde and considering the positive buzz surrounding this movie, Marvel’s plans for a solo Black Widow movie kicked into high gear.

The short trailer introduces the central character, a Russian spy played by Lawrence, and the CIA officer with whom she develops a relationship, played by Joel Edgerton.

What follows is a traditional spy thriller, with double and triple agents, unreliable narrators and slick action.

Red Sparrow is directed by Francis Lawrence (no relation) who previously helmed Jennifer Lawrence in the final three Hunger Games movies. He also directed I Am Legend with Will Smith.

The film previously generated buzz for its ‘hard R’ rating. It has been rated R ‘for strong violence, torture, sexual content, language and some graphic nudity’.

Red Sparrow is scheduled for a March 2 release. It also stars Charlotte Rampling, Matthias Schoenaerts, Ciaran Hinds and Jeremy Irons.
