Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom trailer: It looks like the scariest instalment since Steven Spielberg’s original

A second trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was released in conjunction with the Super Bowl, along with trailers for other major films such as Mission: Impossible - Fallout, Avengers: Infinity War and Solo: A Star Wars Story. Like the first trailer, the second trailer also highlights the significant change in direction the franchise has taken -- Fallen Kingdom is the scariest-looking dinosaur movie since the first one.
Under the direction of JA Bayona, who’s known for The Orphanage and The Impossible (a horror and a disaster movie), Fallen Kingdom seems to have combined the two genres. A cataclysmic event threatens to obliterate Isla Nublar, the home of the dinosaurs, and it is up to our heroes, led by Chris Pratt’s character, to save them.
The trailer switches nicely between moments of terror and epic action (there’s also a volcano). The filmmakers seem to have addressed the audience’s complaints with Jurassic World -- which despite the mixed reactions from fans went on to become one of the biggest box office successes of all time, with over $1.5 billion in takings. That film was accused of being flippant about the source movies.
Fallen Kingdom’s tone falls more in line with director Steven Spielberg’s original blockbuster. It also stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Justice Smith, Rafe Spall, Toby Jones and Jeff Goldblum as Dr Ian Malcolm. The film is scheduled for a June 22 release.
